Dear friends
Every morning my alarm goes at 6.30am….or should I say that my fitbit vibrates on my arm to wake me up. I wake the children so they can begin to get up for school then head downstairs to switch on the coffee machine and wait for my coffee to appear. It is so dark now outside but I still open the back door and appreciate the fresh air. Half an hour later and exchanging texts to various people (yes other people are up at this crazy time too) – my friend Helen texts to say have you seen the sky? I step back outside and look across the field and my skyline was pretty dull and murky. Now Helen lives at the bottom of my street, we made friends because our children are in the same class, so I was rather confused. What was she seeing that I couldn’t. She then sent a photograph. WOW!! I still couldn’t see despite the craning of my neck in both directions. I heard my son Ian shout so I went back inside. I was still confused and perplexed. So I unlocked the front door and stepped out.
It took my breath away!
WOW A MOST BEAUTIFUL SUNRISE – the colours like flames of fire.
I stood out there until I heard a car engine start then I headed inside. It made me ponder about the things we miss because we are looking the wrong way. What direction are you looking at? Do you need to turn around and see the beauty of our Lord Jesus Christ afresh?
The prayer of St Teresa of Avila
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
Yours are the only hands with which he can do his work,
yours are the only feet with which he can go about the world.
Yours are the only eyes through which his compassion can shine forth upon a troubled world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
St Teresa reminds us that we are the hands and feet of Jesus here on earth – let’s keep our eyes fixed on Him, following in His footsteps so we know that we are in the right direction and don’t miss out on all that He has for us and the people who we need to meet to share the gospel with.
Have a great week. I look forward to seeing you on our zoom service this Sunday. If you haven’t seen the publicity there are lots new regular events with our circuit team: bible study, quiz nights, coffee mornings, film club and so much more. Check out the website, social media sites or see the posters attached.
Love and prayers,
Sharon
