As the day for the trip approached we were getting very nervous as the weather had been atrocious with extremely heavy rainfalls.
We picked the coach up at Church which took us to Ambleside to pick up the Lake Steamer to Lakeside. The weather was very overcast but fortunately we were spared any further heavy rain.
We travelled down the lake, calling at Bowness, and headed down to Lakeside.
We picked up the steam train on the Haverthwaite and Lakeside railway for our journey to Haverthwaite where we enjoyed looking at the steam trains (well the men certainly did) and the Ladies made the most of the Gift Shop.
Our journey then took us to Cartmel where, after leaving the coach, some of the party sampled the famous, delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding. The rest of the afternoon was spent in Cartmel, where we could see the effect of the heavy rain in the river running through the centre of the village, before we made our way to the ancient Cartmel Priory where we concluded the afternoon with a service.
The coaches then returned us to our starting point.
An enjoyable day was had by all.
